THE ESTATE
Highland RFCA manages a total of 36 centres for the TA and Reserves, and 135 for the Cadets. They are constructed, maintained, furnished and managed. These sites, which range from large complexes such as Gordon Barracks, Bridge of Don to single cadet huts in remote rural and island areas, are maintained by a small works staff based in Dundee, Inverness, Dumbarton and Aberdeen.

FUNDING AND COMPLIANCE
With 171 sites and a frequent change in defence priorities, Highland RFCA has to respond to the challenges. It does so by adopting a range of initiatives to:
- Prioritize the estate management priorities
- Upgrade existing buildings to obtain conditioned improvements
- Examine opportunities for redevelopment
- Work with Local Authorities to provide joint youth facilities close to schools and residential areas
- Where permissible, use modular buildings to provide good value modern facilities
- Divest sites that no longer have operational use or where buildings have high upkeep
- Concentrate units on fewer sites where this does not detract from attracting Reservists or Cadets
- Examine how facilities may be utilised for purposes of income generation when not being used by Reserves or Cadets
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Highland RFCA provides facilities management support to our Reserve and Cadets units. This includes the provision of utilities, management of non-domestic rates, provision of furnishings and cleaning materials, alarms and technical advice. We procure vehicles for use by the association's permanent staff and for use by the ACF units in the Highlands.
