THE RESERVE FORCES IN THE HIGHLANDS

The Reserve Forces are an integral and vital part of the UK’s Armed Forces, as set out in the Defence White Paper 2003.  Anybody who joins the Royal Naval Reserve, the Royal Marines Reserve, the Territorial Army and the Royal Auxiliary Air Force should do so in the expectation that they will be mobilised at least once.  In meeting this requirement, not only is the dedication and enthusiasm of our Reservists essential but so is the support of their families, partners and employers.

The Reserve Forces from each of the Armed Services in the Highlands offer a range of options for those seeking the opportunities to develop their personal skills that can contribute to their civilian employment, contribute to the nation’s security interests, and be challenged.  Commitments vary with between 20-30 training days per annum, of which 2 weeks will normally be spent at Annual Camp.  Once fully trained, individuals may be deployed on operations.
