Cadets from 379 (County of Ross) Sqn based in Alness, joined other cadets from around the Highlands at RAF Lossiemouth on 29 April for the annual Highland Wing Field Day Competitions.
The competitions involve numerous events such as drill, photography, PR, model making and aircraft recognition.
379 Squadron again took home three of the four trophies for aircraft recognition. The fourth trophy went to 1068 (Nairn) Squadron. The team from Alness will now go on to attend the Scotland and Northern Ireland Regional Competition at Rosyth in September.
Flying Officer David Anderson RAFVR(T), Commanding Officer of 379 Squadron, said: “Our Squadron continue to have an excellent record in the aircraft recognition competitions. During the competition, cadets only see a photo of an aircraft on the screen for two seconds before it goes blank again. Watching these cadets identify a make and model of aircraft in such a short space of time is really something to see. We have more preparation to do for the regional competition and I thank Civilian Instructor Eddie Wallace who teaches this subject to our cadets for his ongoing instruction.”
Cadet Will Cawte earned a separate trophy for being the individual with the highest points (27 out of 30 aircraft identified correctly). After the competitions were completed, the Commanding Officer of 379 Squadron also had the honour of promoting Cadet Will Cawte to the rank of Corporal.
