29.07.2019

An Army Cadet from Sutherland has been appointed as the highest ranking cadet of their unit.

Tristan Jack (17), from 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Farr Detachment in Betty Hill has been promoted to Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major. RSM Jack was appointed to his new role in the third day of the Battalion’s two week Annual Camp at Warcop Training Area in Cumbria.

A Cadet since February 2014, RSM Jack has climbed through the ranks and most recently completed his Master Cadet, the highest level in the cadet Army Proficiency Syllabus.

Tristan has taken up every opportunity offered to him by the Army Cadets, including representing the Army Cadet Force in Canada last summer as part of an International Cadet Exchange Programme. He is also currently the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet of Caithness, assisting the Lord Lieutenant Viscount John Thurso in his official duties as Her Majesty the Queen’s appointed representative of Caithness.

Tristan took over the role of Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major from fellow Caithness Company cadet Lani Jones, who was Caithness’ first RSM since 1997.
