July has seen a flurry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award activity, with eight employers in the HRFCA area receiving one.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
To qualify for the Bronze Award employers must pledge to support the armed forces, including existing or prospective employees who are members of the community; must have signed the Armed Forces Covenant; must promote being armed forces-friendly and be open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and military spouses/partners.
The eight companies who received the award are: BEAR Scotland, Cabled iT, Cruden Medical Group, European Circuits Ltd, Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort, Glenhead Engineering Ltd, Graham’s Family Dairy, and Securitay Limited.
The firms provide a diverse range of products and services including roads management, hospitality, and security.
HRFCA Head of Engagement Michelle McKearnon said: “We thank each of these organisations for demonstrating their support and commitment to the Armed Forces Community, and look forward to helping them continue progressing up the ladder of support and working towards possible Silver and Gold awards in the future.”
The awards come on the back of a productive year for Armed Forces Covenant signings, with 16 signed in Highland to date and many more in the pipeline.
