Gun Salute marks Royal birthday

18.11.2019

Highland RFCA attended a Royal Gun Salute on 14 November at Stirling Castle.

154 (Scottish) Regiment Royal Logistic Corps hosted the occasion to mark the 71st birthday of HRH The Duke of Rothesay. The salute was fired by the Gunners of 16 Regt RA, 30 Bty.

The Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland provided music.

The reviewing officer for the event was Brigadier Harrington, Deputy Commander Reserves, 3 (UK) Div. Music was provided to the usual high standard by The Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland.

The theme of the event was engagement, with guests from organisations across Scotland invited to attend, including Fife Chamber of Commerce, Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the Provosts of both North and South Ayrshire and Fife’s Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Rod Cavanagh.

Among others enjoying the Scottish hospitality was Sergeant Brenton Burrows-Shammall from 16 Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, who was taking part in an exchange programme with 16 Regt RA, 30 Bty. He is heading back to Australia this week but loved his time in the UK. He said he didn’t know how we coped with our cold weather!

Many thanks to 154 (Scottish) Regiment RLC for extending an invite to HRFCA.
