Associated Seafoods was presented with the Armed Forces Covenant on 26 August.

Highland RFCA’s Defence Relationship Manager Ray Watt presented the certificate at the company’s facility in Arbroath. Ray is pictured holding the certificate along with Group Head of HR Barbara Lugowska flanked by other Associated Seafoods staff.

Associated Seafoods was established in 2010, when it brought together Lossie Seafoods, a specialist in smoked fish and Moray Seafoods, a leading business in shellfish production. It has processing sites in Buckie and Arbroath, employing more than 550 people in total.

The company first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in November 2024. By signing the Covenant, it has become one of 13,000+ organisations across the UK to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.

Its commitment to honouring the Covenant includes pledges to support the employment of Veterans; support the employment of Service spouses and partners; support members of staff who are Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, granting additional leave to attend annual camps and courses; support Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities; support Armed Forces charities.

A spokesperson for the company said: “For us, signing up was an easy decision. We deeply respect the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces and their families, and we want to show our appreciation. We want Service personnel, Veterans, and their families to know that we are an employer who will support and welcome you. When you see one of our vacancies, we hope you’ll feel confident that you already know a little about us — and that you’ll be encouraged to come and talk to us.”

Associated Seafoods is now eligible to apply for a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award. The ERS Awards encourage employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
