Extensive refurbishment at the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) building at Burntisland has been completed.
The Unity Hall home of 775 (Burntisland) Squadron at Links Place has undergone a full internal refurbishment.
This saw the installation of new timber sash and case windows, decoration, upgrades to thermal insulation, electrics, and data facilities; along with a new external courtyard and general works to bring the exterior up to a finished standard.
The building – located directly within the Burntisland Conservation Area on Links Place – has an abundance of history dating back to the 1800s, previously serving as a local police station with four cells.
The project was handed back to Highland RFCA by RDA Architects.
Gary Scott, Director at the Dundee and Perth-based firm, said: “RDA Architects are delighted to continue our working relationship with Highland RFCA with successful delivery of another Cadet Centre involving extensive refurbishment and modernisation works to ensure the building runs efficiently and continues to provide a fantastic service to the local cadets and community.
“It’s great to see investment into a unique building, preserving its use for many years to come.”
The work at Burntisland was part of £870,000 works by the Association spread across six RAFAC locations. As well as Burntisland, improvements were being made at Craigiebarns Dundee, Auchtermuchty, Cheviot Road in Kirkcaldy, Cumbernauld and Stirling.
