The Army Cadet Force (ACF) provides young people with a wide range of opportunities, including the chance to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) scheme.

Two cadets from The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Battalion ACF recently had their exceptional dedication, leadership, and hard work, recognised by the scheme.

Corporal Logan received the Silver Award, while Lance Corporal Bowie received the Bronze Award. The Battalion’s Deputy Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Lockhart, presented both Awards to the cadets.

The accolades signify the exemplary commitment to their duties within the Army Cadets and their outstanding performance in achieving objectives.

Corporal Logan’s ability to effectively lead with professionalism and efficiency has not gone unnoticed, earning her Silver. Similarly, Lance Corporal Bowie’s unwavering determination, adaptability, and positive contribution to the Army Cadets have earned her well-deserved recognition with Bronze.

These Awards serve as a testament to their continued excellence and commitment to upholding the standards of excellence.

DofE is open to any young person aged 14 to 24. Participants build their own programme, choosing activities and a cause to volunteer for. The DofE is structured into three levels of Award, which increase in challenge and duration: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The main differences between the Award levels are the minimum length of time it takes to complete the programme, how challenging it is, and the minimum age you can start. There are four main sections of a DofE programme: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition. At Gold, participants will also complete a Residential section.

The ACF is one of the largest providers of the scheme in the UK, helping young people improve their personal development and employability.
