The Society of Personnel and Development Scotland (SPDS) held its Annual Conference from 12 to 13 November.

Highland RFCA was in attendance as an exhibitor, with Head of Engagement Michelle McKearnon taking charge of the Association stand at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, ably assisted by hard-working HRFCA mascot Sergeant Major George.

A team from Angus and Dundee Battalion Army Cadet Force was also in attendance, led by Battalion Commandant Colonel Scott Dunn. They were promoting the benefits of Army Cadets to delegates, while also highlighting the benefits of employing Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. Colonel Dunn is also the Highland RFCA Southern Area Committee Vice Chair.

The event brings like-minded professionals together to help shape the future of work in Scotland’s local authorities. It featured keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and exhibitions.

Topics covered included re-thinking HR, designing organisations for the future and adapting to change, making effective use of AI, the future of flexible working, public sector reform, wellbeing and performance, and employment law.
