Offshore Helicopter Services UK Limited (OHSUK) was presented with the Armed Forces Covenant and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award on 13 November.

Highland RFCA’s Regional Employer Engagement Director Ray Watt presented both certificates at the organisation’s base in Dyce, Aberdeen. Ray (left) is pictured with Managing Director Andrew Rodden.

OHSUK provides safe and reliable offshore helicopter transportation for North Sea workers and a round-the-clock Search and Rescue service, supporting up to 10,000 workers in the harshest of working environments.

The company first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in May. By signing the Covenant it has become one of over 13,000 organisations to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.

Its commitment to honouring the Covenant includes pledges to:

  • Promote the fact it is an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
  • Support the employment of Veterans and Service leavers.
  • Support employees who are members of the Reserve Forces; granting limited paid leave for annual Reserve Forces training where possible; support any mobilisations and deployment; actively encourage members of staff to become Reservists.
  • Support employees who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations; granting additional unpaid leave to attend annual training camps and courses; actively encourage staff to become volunteer leaders in cadet organisations.
  • Support Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities.
  • Support Armed Forces charities.

OHSUK also received the ERS Bronze Award. The ERS Awards encourage employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

Andrew Rodden said: “We are proud and honoured to receive the Covenant and Bronze Award.

“With current and former Armed Forces personnel among our staff, we are acutely aware of the importance of the Covenant, which recognises the value those who serve contribute not only to our business but also our country.

“Receiving these awards shows our support and commitment to our Armed Forces and their families.”
