1st Battalion The Highlanders ACF has scooped a prestigious award.

The battalion won the best Media Portfolio category in the ACF PR Wilkinson Sword Competition and is in the running for the overall prize which will be awarded next month.

SI Graeme Wells has done a fantastic job as 1 Highlanders’ PRO over the past 12 months and the award is testimony to his hard work and enthusiasm.

The judging panel of the ACF annual PR competition, which recognises excellence in PR activity amongst the counties, had an incredibly hard job this year as the standard of entries across all categories was very high.

Lt Col Steve Taylor, OC ACF PR Training Team, said: “It is clear that the level of professionalism, attention to detail and application of all the skills of the PROs has created a body of work that represents the ACF in the very best possible terms. There is some truly creative and outstanding work in these submissions, probably the best this competition has ever seen and this is a testimony to the remarkable efforts and abilities of the PROs.

“It is a shame that not everyone can be a winner – that is the harsh reality of a competition – and the judging panel was agreed that everyone should be very proud of their work. The bar has been raised by the entries this year and it is fantastic to see. My thanks to everyone who entered – I hope you will be encouraged to do so again next year – and congratulations to all those category winners.”

Category certificates will be presented at the PR Conference at the Royal School of Signals, Blandford, on 4th – 5th June, where the overall winner of the ACF PR Wilkinson Sword 2015 will also be revealed.
