Highland RFCA joined our colleagues at Lowland RFCA on Saturday for a Royal Gun Salute at Edinburgh Castle to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.

Army Reservists from 212 (Highland) Battery, 105 Regiment Royal Artillery conducted the 9 June 21-gun salute with military precision.

Guests were drawn from across the Scottish education sector. They heard first-hand accounts from Service Cadets (from the Sea, Army and Air cadets) about the benefits of joining these youth organisations.

Reviewing officer for the event was Chief Inspector of Education for Scotland and Education Scotland Chief Executive Gayle Gorman.

The band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland provided music for the occasion.

The formalities were rounded off with a special presentation to HRFCA REED Ron Macgregor who received an engraved gun shell in recognition of his long service and dedication to the Association.

Ron, who retires at the end of this month, was given the shell by the Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Major General Mike Riddell-Webster.
