The £88,000 refurbishment of the RAF Air Cadet building in Dumbarton has been completed.
The internal and external works were carried out by Glasgow-based HCS Mechanical Services Ltd.
The upgrade to the building saw various energy saving improvements. These included upgrading the building’s insulation, and the installation of energy efficient panel heaters, motion sensor lighting and non-storage instant hot water.
The building was refurbished to meet current building standards including a new electrical system, compliant fire doors and fully automatic fire detection system. HCS delivered a very impressive end product all within the eight-week projected programme.
The upgrades will improve the training experience for the cadets and adult volunteers of 1777 (Dumbarton Blackburn) Squadron who use the building.
The improvements were financed by HQ RAF Air Cadets and managed by HRFCA. Other recent improvements to the RAF Air Cadet estate range from £200 to install new electrical sockets at one site to a £100K upgrade at Craigiebarn Road in Dundee, and similar works in Montrose for £46K. £18K was also spent at Falkirk to provide energy reducing upgrades.
