Aker Offshore Wind has received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award.
Highland RFCA Regional Employer Engagement Director (REED) Ray Watt presented the award on 5 September in Dyce, Aberdeen (main picture). Chris Taylor, Head of Commercial UK, accepted the award on behalf of Aker.
Aker Offshore Wind has been recognised as an Armed Forces-friendly organisation that values the contribution of serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families to the region’s economy and communities.
Aker Offshore Wind previously signed the Armed Forces Covenant in November 2021. The Covenant is a commitment to ensure those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
The Covenant sets companies on the path to have their pledge recognised through the Employer Recognition Scheme. This scheme incorporates prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, granted in recognition of their pledge to support Defence and the Armed Forces Community.
Aker Offshore Wind is striving to create a sustainable future – one driven by clean, green energy. It aims to source, develop and eventually operate deepwater offshore wind projects and become a power producer of renewable energy. The company has a portfolio of development projects and prospects in Europe, North America and Asia.
Chris Taylor said: “We are delighted to further our commitment to ensure that Armed Forces personnel and their families are not disadvantaged as a result of their service, and that their highly transferrable skills and experience are suitably valued.
“Inclusion and diversity are extremely important principles, and principles that will help us as we look to tackle the challenge of rapid renewable deployment at scale.”
