Dr Glaze was impressed with the confidence shown by all the Cadets.

A dozen Service Cadets lit up an international conference at Glasgow University.

‘Character, Culture and Values’ was hosted by Character Scotland and partners on June 15 and 16. It was the first event of its kind in Scotland, designed to ‘explore and build on the continuing global shift towards character and values-based education’.

Around 250 delegates attended from across the educational and political spectrum.

The 12 Cadets consisted of three from the Sea Cadets, one from the Air Training Corps and Army Cadets from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Lothian and Borders, The Black Watch, and Dundee and Angus.

The Cadets spoke at the Character, Values and Youth seminar and were involved in the Character in the Community seminar.

Keynote speaker Dr Avis Glaze, who is one of Canada’s outstanding educators and a recognised international leader in education, was bowled over by the confidence of the Cadets and remarked on how impressed she had been with them.
