Dales Marine receives ERS Silver

Dales Marine has been presented with the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award for 2021.

The award from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) is in recognition of the support organisations give to the Armed Forces community.

As Dales were unable to attend our recent Silver Awards at Scone Palace (more on that HERE), HRFCA Regional Employer Engagement Director Ray Watt travelled to Aberdeen to present the award. While there, Clyde-based minehunter HMS Pembroke arrived in the city for a routine visit and the crew were kind enough to allow us onboard for pictures.

Dales Marine HR/QHSE Manager Mark Massie (pictured above with Ray on HMS Pembroke) received the award on behalf of the company.

He said: “We are very proud to support the Defence and Armed Forces community, supporting those who serve our country. Dales Marine recognises its responsibilities in supporting service leavers and veterans by offering them employment, training, and a new career path within the marine industry. We also look to support reservist and family members of serving military personnel and the forces community.”

Dales Marine Assistant Manager and veteran Robert Hall said: “From experience, some forces personnel can struggle with the transition into a civilian working environment, always feeling the need to be on the move (job to job). Veterans who’ve joined Dales, are still here; A testament to the company and its working environment.”

The Employer Recognition Scheme recognises those who demonstrate or advocate support to the Armed Forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant – a pledge from the nation that those who serve or who have served and their families are treated fairly.

Silver Award winners must meet certain criteria, including: employing at least one individual from the armed forces community, actively ensuring that their workforce is aware of their positive policies, demonstrating support to mobilisations of reservists and providing at least five days’ additional leave for training.

The other 2021 Silver Award winners in the HRFCA-area were Arpine Group, Caritas Legal, Isle of Harris Distillers, John Clark Motors, and SSE plc.
