An Army Cadet has been given the honour of assisting the Lord-Lieutenant of Nairnshire, George Asher, in his duties as His Majesty The King’s appointed representative to the area.

Cadet Corporal Darcey Woodman (16), from Nairn Detachment of 1st Battalion The Highlanders Army Cadet Force (ACF), was appointed to the year-long appointment as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet of Nairnshire in a presentation held at the end of August.

Corporal Woodman has been a member of the ACF since March 2019. Over her time with the cadets she has attempted to take part in everything available. This includes several competitions that cadets can enter, such as shooting and she has also represented the Battalion in the Army Cadet Force Association Scotland Five-a-Side Football Competition. She has also taken advantage of overseas opportunities. In February this year she went to Bavaria in Germany to complete a Basic Alpine Skiing Course which also counted towards her 2 Star Cadet Syllabus Training.

As the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet, Corporal Woodman will attend events that the Lord-Lieutenant attends in his capacity as The King’s representative to the County of Nairnshire. She received her Certificate of Appointment at the Nairn Detachment Cadet Centre.
