An Army Cadet Instructor from Caithness has been presented with a long service medal for her dedication to the young people of Caithness.
Staff Sergeant Instructor Elizabeth Hendry (36), from 1st Battalion the Highlander’s Wick Detachment, was presented with the Cadet Forces Medal, recognising 12 years of service to the cadets.
SSI Hendry joined the ACF in June 2005 as an instructor with the Caithness Company Detachment. Her average detachment night includes teaching the cadets of Wick lessons from the Cadet Training Syllabus for them to progress on their Star awards.
Elizabeth was awarded her medal at the detachment, based on Macrae Street, by the Battalion’s Commandant, Colonel Iain Cassidy.
The Cadet Forces Medal is awarded to all officers and uniformed Adult Instructors in recognition of long service of proved capacity in the Cadet Forces. Twelve years reckonable service is required for award of the medal, with an additional clasp for every six years of further service.
