C Company 7 SCOTS, 205 (Scottish) Field Hospital and 2622 (Highland) Squadron RAuxAF hosted an Inverness Chamber of Commerce Business Networking event at the Army Reserve Centre, Gordonville Road.
The 31 May event aimed to raise awareness amongst the business community and employers of Reservists of the training and development benefits of employees joining the Armed Forces Reservists.
The evening included presentations from six Army and RAuxAF Reservists who told the audience about their positive experiences in the Reserves.
These were followed by a presentation from Highland RFCA Regional Employer Engagement Director Ron Macgregor who impressed upon the audience the value of the host of transferrable skills Reservists bring to their workplaces. He also invited employers to consider signing the Armed Forces Covenant – a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.
The visitors were then divided into three groups and circulated between a trio of stations demonstrating the different skills Reservists can gain. These included 205 Fd Hosp showing how first aid carried out in the field can be applied to the civilian workplace. Another – carried out by 2622 Sqn RAuxAF – aimed to highlight the challenges and discipline required when living in the field.
Mr Macgregor said: “This was an excellent event which gave guests a full appreciation of the transferable skills Reservists can offer to their civilian employers.”
A healthy turnout of 22 employers enjoyed the hospitality of their Highland hosts and rounded off the evening with a curry supper.
