Knockhill Racing Circuit held an Armed Forces and NHS 75 Appreciation weekend on April 15 and 16.
HRFCA was in attendance, bringing a wide selection of guests to enjoy all the action on the Sunday in Fife. Multiple sectors were represented with guests from Dundee FC, Eclipse (IP) Ltd, Fife Chamber of Commerce, Fife College, IED Training Solutions, Kongsberg, Mercure Hotels, NHS Tayside, Nick Allan and Associates, and Tayside Aviation.
HRFCA Regional Employer Engagement Directors Roy McLellan and Ray Watt welcomed guests before they received a briefing from Knockhill Event Director Stuart Gray. Guests were then free to enjoy watching the racing, followed by a trip to the starting grid to get a closer look at some of the race cars.
Guests then enjoyed some thrilling laps of the circuit in Honda Type-R cars, expertly piloted by racing drivers. Once the guests had recovered, they had lunch in the circuit function suite. They were then free to enjoy the remainder of the racing.
Knockhill is an Armed Forces Covenant signatory and, since 2019, a holder of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award.
It has been extremely pro-active in its Armed Forces support and has held multiple Armed Forces Appreciation Days to recognise and pay tribute to all serving and veteran Armed Forces personnel and their families.
The Appreciation weekend expanded to a full weekend for 2023, meaning any serving members of the Armed Forces or veterans were able to attend on one or both days for free. Anyone accompanying them got in for a concessionary rate. That offer was also extended to anyone working for the NHS.
The event combined the best that both Knockhill Motor Sports Club (KMSC) and the Scottish Motor Racing Club had to offer.
Run by KMSC, the weekend brought together ModSports, Classics, Legends, Minis, Fiesta STs, C1s and Super Lap Scotland for the “Best of Scottish” with the best racing and fastest cars in the country.
The event also played host to a variety of stands and attractions from the Service Cadet organisations, RAF Reserves and Armed Forces charities.
