Army Cadets from Forres have finished as the top shooting detachment of their unit.
Forres Detachment, 1st Battalion the Highlanders, came 1st in the Annual Moray Company Inter-Detachment Shooting Competition, held at the Battalion’s Cadet Training Centre at Dingwall.
The day-long competition saw almost 90 cadets from the company’s six detachments compete against each other. The shooting was split into two categories: Full Bore Shooting on the Cadet General Purpose Rifle at Fort George Ranges near Ardersier, for the company’s senior cadets; and Small Bore Shooting on the No8 Rifle on the 25m Range at Dingwall, for the junior cadets.
The winners were determined by calculating the overall Detachment average of shooting scores at all levels.
Forres Detachment were named the winners at final parade, with the trophy being presented by Moray Company’s Shooting Officer, Regimental Sergeant Major Instructor Eric Mills (54), to Cadet Corporal Giacomo Innes (15) of Forres.
This is the second time in a row Forres have won the trophy.
