Cadets from Fortrose Detachment of 1st Battalion the Highlanders ACF have raised £600 towards an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with a sponsored walk.
The walk was organised by the detachment as part of the Army Cadet Force National Community Week and was over a 7km route near Strathpeffer – known locally as the ‘Cat’s Back Walk’.
Despite mixed weather everyone was in high spirits.
Fortrose Detachment Sergeant Instructor Flora Thomson said: “I am delighted with the £600 raised by the platoon for the local community defibrillator fund. The defibrillator is situated at the local fire station in Fortrose.”
The cheque – initially for £500, but later increased with an extra £100 raised by a Cadet – was presented by the detachment to Ms Caroline Cumming who had initiated the fundraising effort.
SI Thomson added: “I wish to thank both RSMI Standen and CSMI Standen for helping us out on the day and to the safety driver Lt Cameron. Also, a big thank you to the Cadets who took part and all who sponsored us.”
