Magnificent Seven strike Silver

16.09.2019

Seven organisations in the HRFCA-area have been awarded the prestigious Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award.

The award from the Ministry of Defence is in recognition of the support the organisations give to the Armed Forces community.

Certificates recognising the achievement will be awarded at an awards dinner being held in the Great Hall at Edinburgh Castle on November 14.

The winners in the HRFCA-area are: Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, EVi Charge Points Ltd, Fife Chamber of Commerce, High Life Highland, Scottish Water, SFB Consulting, and Sport Aberdeen.

Ben Wallace.

Commenting on the announcement of the awards, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: “These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across Britain and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.

“Regardless of size, location or sector, employing ex-forces personnel is good for business and this year we have doubled the number of awards in recognition of the fantastic support they give.”

Johnny Mercer.

Minister for Defence People and Veterans Johnny Mercer said: “Veterans make a huge contribution to businesses across the country and it’s fantastic to see a record breaking number of organisations recognised for their support.

“We’re working closely with businesses to help them further understand the huge value that veterans, reservists and military spouses can bring to their organisation.”

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises those who demonstrate or advocate support to the armed forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant – a pledge from the nation that those who serve or who have served and their families are treated fairly.

Silver Award winners must meet certain criteria, including: employing at least one individual from the armed forces community, actively ensuring that their workforce is aware of their positive policies, demonstrating support to mobilisations of reservists and providing at least five days’ additional leave for training.
