An update on the progress of Highland RFCA’s new modular cadet hut for installation in Mastrick, Aberdeen.
The existing building in Mastrick was demolished at the beginning of August. The site was then cleared for foundation works. The next step will be preparing the ground and foundation layout, which should be completed by early September.
The building will be used by cadets from 2nd Battalion The Highlanders Battalion Army Cadet Force (ACF). It was designed to the specifications of the ACF and Highland RFCA by Aberdeen-based JAMstudio.
The new cadet building was constructed off site by Healthmatic Ltd in Wiltshire. The new energy-efficient design will replace the old Spooner huts that have passed the point of repair.
The delivery and installation of the new building is planned for September, and the cadets should be able to enjoy it soon after.

This project is part of Highland RFCA’s £1.4 million programme of cadet building replacements such as in Newport, Bo’ness and Banff.
