The annual ACFA Beating Retreat took place on the Esplanade at Edinburgh Castle on April 28.

Large numbers of guests, cadets’ families and friends watched as the talented youngsters put on a memorable event, one which would rival many adult bands.

The show opened with the fanfare team announcing the start of the parade, before the Corps of Drums marched on for their display. This was followed by the Massed Bands and then the National Pipes and Drums of the ACF.

For the finale, the Massed Band and Corps of Drums marched back on to join the Pipes and Drums to perform the traditional Sunset Ceremony.

Among those taking part were The Band and Drums of Gwent and Powys ACF who enjoyed the experience immensely and thanked the organisers for their invitation to Scotland and the hospitality they enjoyed while in the capital.
