Construction of Highland RFCA’s new modular cadet hut for installation in Mastrick, Aberdeen, is proceeding well.
The building – to be used by cadets from 2nd Battalion The Highlanders Battalion ACF – is being constructed off site by Healthmatic Ltd in Wiltshire.
The building will be transported north and lifted into place section by section by crane. Installation is planned for September.
The building should be ready for occupation approximately one month after that. The modern, energy efficient design replaces the old Spooner huts that have passed the point of economical repair.
The building was designed to the specifications of the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Highland RFCA by JAMstudio in Aberdeen.
It forms part of Highland RFCA’s £1.4 million programme of cadet building replacements and follows similar builds in Newport, Bo’ness and Banff.
