Highland RFCA Chief Executive Brigadier (Retired) Mark Dodson MBE DL attended a parade at St John’s Kirk, Perth, to mark Armed Forces Day on 29 June.

He was present in his capacity as Association Chief Executive as well as to represent Stephen Leckie Esquire, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross, as one of his Deputy Lieutenants.

The event was also attended by Xander McDade, Provost of Perth and Kinross, and Councillor Chris Ahern who is the Armed Forces Champion for Perth and Kinross Council.

A contingent from the Association of Perth Veterans (APV) were joined by Perth Sea Cadets and Perth Air Cadets as well as spectators from the local public to mark the occasion.

Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday each June and is an annual opportunity to show support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving Regulars and Reservists to Service families, Veterans and Cadets.

It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations, beginning this year on Monday 24 June, when the public shows its support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community. It also included Reserves Day, which fell on 26 June this year. Reserves Day provides the country with an opportunity to recognise our Reserve Forces.
