The Peterhead and Royal Signals Detachments of 2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF held a moving remembrance ceremony as part of their parade night.
As there will not be a full parade this Sunday for Peterhead, only a wreath laying service, last night’s ceremony gave the cadets an opportunity to mark the occasion – fittingly on the 11th of the 11th.
The evening included musical contributions from pipers and a bugler, and a reading by Cadet Executive Officer, Major Stuart Eddie, of For The Fallen.
Also in attendance were the Battalion’s Commandant, Deputy Commandant, CQM, Coy Commander, Coy Training Officer, a representative from the Royal British Legion Scotland, and Commander Sea Cadets with two other Sea Cadet Adult Ratings.
The majority of these army cadets have only joined the Battalion in the past couple of months, and this was their first introduction to a formal parade.
The evening was a fitting tribute of remembrance for the fallen in all conflicts. It also enabled the cadets to learn about and appreciate the commitment and sacrifice of service personnel.
