Work on Highland RFCA’s Boddam Refurbishment Project is continuing to progress well.
Improvements to buildings at the 2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF site got under way on 30 May.
The work consists of building a four-man Tube Firing Range, a Parade Square and refurbishing the old Shetland accommodation block into an IT Suite and Classroom space.
The main activities that were undertaken in July were levelling works on the parade ground, with a perimeter kerb and topsoil surround. The drainage connection was also installed. Work on concrete floors in the firing range continued; and, in Shetland Block, work included plasterwork skimming and floor screeding with service holes and voids concreted.
Works planned this month (August) include tarring the parade ground, creating foundations for the firing tubes and inserting firing tube pipework in the range; in Shetland Block plaster work will continue as will ceiling repairs and window replacements.
The principal contractor is Morrison Construction.
