An Army Cadet from Inverness has been given the honour of assisting the Lord-Lieutenant of Inverness-shire in their official duties as Her Majesty The Queen’s representative to the area.

Cadet Sergeant Samuel Stubbs (17), from 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Raigmore Detachment, was appointed to the year-long role as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet of Inverness-shire.

Sgt Stubbs has been a member of the Army Cadet Force for almost five years and throughout that time he has taken advantage of the various opportunities available to cadets, from representing the Battalion in the Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting at Bisley to representing Scotland in cross country.

Following the presentation Major Alex Mezals, Inverness Company Commander said: “Samuel has demonstrated throughout his time in cadets to be a very enthusiastic and committed individual. He has excelled in many areas of the cadet experience such as Military Skills Competitions, shooting at Bisley and sports. He has also represented Scotland and the Battalion on a seven-week International Leadership course in Canada back in 2019.”

The presentation, which took place on 4 August, was made by Vice Lord-Lieutenant Douglas Young at the Raigmore Detachment hall at Gordonville Road in front of Samuel’s fellow cadets.

As Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet, Samuel will attend events the Lord-Lieutenant attends in his capacity as Her Majesty The Queen’s Representative of the Inverness area.
