Army Cadet Force adult volunteers travelled to Glencorse Barracks at the weekend for cadet commission selection.

The Cadet Force Commissioning Board usually takes place at Westbury in Wiltshire and was being held at Glencorse, near Penicuick in Midlothian, for the first time. The Board is aiming to return in two years’ time.

Commissioning Board President Colonel Mike Mullins led the selection panel. Also present was Murdo Urquhart of the ACF, a former Col Cadets at Regional Command.

The 18 candidates took part in a challenging range of command tasks designed to test leadership qualities and potential. Most tests took place in syndicate groups (candidates were given a numbered coloured bib and were referred to by number throughout the weekend).

HRFCA Chief Executive Brigadier Mark Dodson viewed proceedings on Sunday, accompanied by Pat O’ Meara, Colonel Cadets 51st (Infantry) Brigade & HQ Scotland.

Despite some challenging weather conditions all the candidates kept smiling throughout the intensive weekend.

Results will be announced later.
