Dales Marine is one of six organisations in the HRFCA-area recently awarded with the prestigious Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award for 2021.
The award from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) is in recognition of the support the organisations give to the Armed Forces community.
The Employer Recognition Scheme recognises those who demonstrate or advocate support to the Armed Forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant – a pledge from the nation that those who serve or who have served and their families are treated fairly.
Silver Award winners must meet certain criteria, including: employing at least one individual from the armed forces community, actively ensuring that their workforce is aware of their positive policies, demonstrating support to mobilisations of reservists and providing at least five days’ additional leave for training.
On news of receiving the Silver Award, Mark Massie HR/QHSE Manager, Dales Marine, said: “We are very proud to support the Defence and Armed Forces community, supporting those who serve our country. Dales Marine recognises its responsibilities in supporting service leavers and veterans by offering them employment, training, and a new career path within the marine industry. We also look to support reservist and family members of serving military personnel and the forces community.”
Dales Marine Assistant Manager and veteran Robert Hall said: “This is great news for the company. From experience, some forces personnel can struggle with the transition into a civilian working environment, always feeling the need to be on the move (job to job). Veterans who’ve joined Dales, are still here; A testament to the company and its working environment.”
Minister for Defence People and Veterans, Leo Docherty, said: “I would like to thank all the organisations who have proven their support for the Defence community during such unprecedented and challenging times.
“The vast range of those recognised this year demonstrates how employing the Armed Forces community makes a truly positive and beneficial impact for all employers, regardless of size, sector or location.”
The other Silver Award winners in the HRFCA-area were Arpine Group, Caritas Legal, Isle of Harris Distillers, John Clark Motors and SSE plc.
A ceremony will be held at Scone Palace on October 7 to present the recipients with their awards.
