The sun shone brightly on Alloa for Clackmannanshire’s Armed Forces Day today as a healthy crowd turned out to show its support to the extraordinary men and women of the Armed Forces.
There was a parade through Alloa Town Centre onto the town hall where a flag-raising ceremony was followed by a civic reception attended by Clackmannanshire Provost Tina Murphy and invited guests.
Around 140 participants took part in the parade which was led by Dollar Academy Pipes and Drums and the Royal Regiment of Scotland Pony Major Corporal Mark Wilkinson accompanied by the mascot Lance Corporal Cruachan IV and his predecessor Lance Corporal (Retd) Cruachan III.
Other participants included RBLS Clackmannanshire and district representatives and veterans, the Dollar Academy CCF, Army Cadets from the Clackmannan Company of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and Air Cadets of 383 Sqn of the ATC.
The event was also enjoyed by local primary schoolchildren.
Clackmannanshire Council will raise the flag of the Armed Forces again on Friday June 26th for one week to mark Armed Forces Day.
