Progress on Highland RFCA’s Boddam Refurbishment Project is continuing.
Improvements to buildings at the 2nd Battalion The Highlanders ACF site got under way on 30 May.
The work consists of building a four-man Tube Firing Range, a Parade Square and refurbishing the old Shetland accommodation block into an IT Suite and Classroom space.
The main activities that were undertaken in August include the following works in Shetland Block:
- M&E 1st fix
- Window installations
- New builderwork, slappings & lift walls
- Joinerwork 1st fix dot and dabbing
- Floor screeding, service holes and floor voids concreted
- Plasterwork skim coating
- Painterwork base coating
Works planned this month (September) include:
Parade Ground
- Drainage
- Upfill to formation level grade ground
- Tarring surface
Firing Range
- Foundations for firing tubes
- Insert firing tube pipework
- Scaffold for builderwork
Shetland Block
- M&E 1st fix & 2nd fix
- Joinerwork finishings
- Doors and ironmongery
- Plasterwork
- Ceiling repairs
- Decoration
The principal contractor is Morrison Construction.
