Employers set for Gold Awards

12.11.2019

Six employer organisations from the HRFCA-area will receive Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Awards at a ceremony in London tonight.

They are among 100 employers recognised by Defence Minister Ben Wallace for their outstanding support to the Armed Forces community.

Representatives from Aberdeenshire Council, IED Training Solutions, Knockhill Racing Circuit, Police Scotland, Stirling Council and West Dunbartonshire Council will be at the National Army Museum to collect their certificates.

Aberdeenshire Council and IED Training Solutions have shared their journey to Gold in two videos (below).

The MOD’s ERS Gold Awards represent the highest badge of honour available to those that employ and support those who serve, veterans, and their families.

The scheme continues to grow year on year with awardees doubling in the last 12 months, taking the total to 228.

Employers have won awards for initiatives such as employing veterans, supporting individuals transitioning out of the Armed Forces into a new career and providing flexibility for Reservists. Included in the 100 recipients are 23 Local Authorities, 13 NHS Hospitals and Trusts and 29 SMEs.

The 100 winners have been recognised for their long-term commitment to the Armed Forces, with companies from the public and private sector achieving the top grade.
