Matthew and Danielle appointed Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets

A Fortrose Army Cadet and an Inverness Sea Cadet have been appointed as the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for Inverness-shire. 

They will assist Lord-Lieutenant of Inverness-shire Donald Cameron of Lochiel in his official duties as Her Majesty The Queen’s appointed representative to the area.

Cadet Sergeant Matthew Maclean (17), from 1st Battalion the Highlanders’ Fortrose Detachment, was appointed to the year-long appointment along with Able Cadet Danielle McLelland of (No 194) TS Briton of the Inverness Sea Cadets.

The presentations by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Inverness-shire, Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Young, took place at the Inverness Sea Cadet’s centre at TS Briton. Lt Col Young presented Matthew and Danielle with their certificates of appointment.

Attendees at the event included 1 Highlander Commandant Colonel Iain Cassidy, Deputy Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Reid, and Inverness Company Commander Major Alexander Mezals.

Sgt Maclean has been a member of the Army Cadets since October 2014 and is now one of the senior instructors of Inverness Company, teaching both the junior and fellow senior cadets of the company and Fortrose Detachment the Cadet Force Syllabus.
