ASCO receives Armed Forces Covenant

An Armed Forces Covenant certificate was presented to ASCO UK Ltd.

ASCO UK Ltd was presented with the Armed Forces Covenant on 2 April. 

Highland RFCA’s Regional Employer Engagement Director Ray Watt presented the certificate at the organisation’s office in Aberdeen. Ray (left) is pictured with ASCO Group CEO Mike Pettigrew.

ASCO creates solutions to improve the efficiency of its customers’ operations around the globe. It delivers a wide range of integrated solutions and specialist services across all areas of logistics, materials, fuels and bulks, marine and environmental services. The company started life in Aberdeen in 1967.

ASCO first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in December 2023. By signing the Covenant, it has become one of the 11,500+ organisations to pledge support to the Armed Forces community. 

Its commitment to honouring the Covenant includes pledges to:

  • Promote the fact it is an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
  • Seek to support the employment of Veterans.
  • Strive to support the employment of Service spouses and partners.
  • Endeavour to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.
  • Seek to support employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces by accommodating training commitments and mobilisation.
  • Raise awareness of recruiting managers within ASCO to the transferable skills Service people possess.
  • Offer guaranteed interviews for job applicants from within the Armed Forces community who meet the minimum criteria in the job specification.

ASCO UK Ltd is now eligible to apply for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award. The ERS Awards encourage employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
