Cadets’ hard work rewarded

15.03.2018

Army cadets from 1st Battalion the Highlanders have seen their hard work rewarded with recognised qualifications.

Cadet Lance Corporals Harry Dawson (15), Charlotte Paterson (14) and Jack Davidson (14), from Alness Detachment, were awarded with their BTEC Level One Certificates in Teamwork, Personal Skills and Citizenship.

The Ross Company cadets completed their qualifications through the Cadet Force’s qualification authority the Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation. The qualification is equivalent to an SCQF Level 4 with the Scottish Qualifications Authority. The internationally-recognised qualification builds life skills in leadership, teamwork, communications, problem-solving and fitness and is free to complete.

There was no extra work for cadets to complete to achieve their BTECs, all they had to do was complete their One Star Cadet Training and fill in an application form to be enrolled onto CVQO for their cadet training to be formally recognised with the organisation.

The cadets were presented with their certificates by Alness Detachment Commander Second Lieutenant Lorraine Wright.
