Andrew Black Design was presented with the Armed Forces Covenant and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award on 10 April.

Andrew Black Design is an award-winning architectural practice in the heart of Dundee providing innovative solutions to a wide range of design challenges across Scotland and beyond. Its talented team has a reputation for delivering sustainable yet beautiful solutions tailored to the ever-changing demands and expectations of modern living and working.
The company has worked with the Highland RFCA Estates team on multiple projects to upgrade buildings and infrastructure across the Estate. Recent work includes improvements to Cadet buildings at Boddam and Dingwall, and to Army Reserve Centres in Arbroath and Invergowrie.
Andrew Black Design first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in January. By signing the Covenant, it has become one of the 11,500+ organisations to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.
Its commitment to honouring the Covenant includes pledges to:
- Promote the Armed Forces Covenant, the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and its support for the Armed Forces community to staff, customers and the wider public.
- Promote the fact it is an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
- Seek to support the employment of Veterans and Service leavers.
- Offer insight days to older Cadets.
- Support Reservists it employs by offering additional unpaid leave in order to carry out their duties.
- Offer additional paid leave to Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) to help carry out their training requirement.
- Offer a 10% discount on domestic projects to members of the Armed Forces community.
Andrew Black Design also received the ERS Bronze Award. The ERS Awards encourage employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
