Highland RFCA visited His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Clyde with guests on November 11.

HMNB Clyde, commonly known as Faslane, is the Royal Navy’s main presence in Scotland. It is home to the core of the Submarine Service.

HRFCA’s Regional Employer Engagement Directors Roy McLellan and Ray Watt hosted guests from a range of organisations: Ian Clark (IED Training Solutions Ltd), Alan Mitchell (Fife Chamber of Commerce), Stuart Gray (Knockhill Racing Circuit), Damon Scott (Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce), and Stephen Doherty (Aggreko). Four of the organisations are Armed Forces Covenant signatories and Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award holders in the HRFCA-area.

The employers had the opportunity to network prior to the event on November 10. They were then picked up the next morning by Faslane staff and escorted around HMNB Clyde on a tour. The guests gained more insight into what a day in the life of a Regular or Reserve Royal Navy sailor looks like.

After the tour and learning more about Reservists’ transferable skills that benefit employers, the employers enjoyed lunch at Faslane. They finished off the afternoon at the Submarine Centre nearby in Helensburgh.
