A company that aims to support elderly people to continue living well at home has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.

Highland RFCA Regional Employer Engagement Director Roy McLellan visited Home Instead East Fife on 25 July to present their Covenant and Bronze Award.

Director and Owner Euan Lafferty and Support Co-Ordinator Melissa Forster received the awards at the organisation’s headquarters in Glenrothes. Melissa is pictured (above) with Roy.

The Covenant is a commitment to ensure those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Home Instead’s Covenant pledges include:

  • Promoting the Armed Forces on its website
  • Supporting Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers by offering them additional annual leave to carry out their duties
  • Supporting Armed Forces events
  • Appointing an Armed Forces Champion within Home Instead East Fife

Signing the Covenant sets companies on the path to have their pledge recognised through the Employer Recognition Scheme. This scheme incorporates prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, granted in recognition of their pledge to support defence and the Armed Forces Community.
