Four cadets from 1st Battalion The Highlanders represented Scotland at the Army Cadet Force Association National Swimming Championships in Aldershot on 7 October.
Cadet Lance Corporal Lexy Wallace (16), from Ross Company, Cadet George Greenstock (13), from Western Isles Company, and cadets Heather MacKay (13) and Ethan Clarke (17), from Caithness Company, took part.
Overall Scotland did extremely well, finishing second to winners Eastern England Region.
The team returned north with plenty of medals. Cdt Clarke came second in the Senior Boys Relay and Cdt MacKay’s Junior Girls team finished first overall in the team scores. Cdt Greenstock, from Back Detachment, finished first in the Junior Boys Relay – making him a UK Swimming Champion. George’s Junior Boys team also finished first in the team scores.
Cdt Clarke said: “It was such a great experience being down there and I would quite happily do it again. I met so many nice people and made some good friendships while being there, not just from Scotland but a few from other cadet counties within the UK.”
