
An Army Cadet from Elgin has been given the honour of assisting the Lord-Lieutenant of Moray in his official duties as Her Majesty the Queen’s appointed representative to the area.
Cadet Corporal Louise Curtis (16), from 1st Battalion the Highlanders’ Elgin Detachment, was appointed to the yearlong appointment as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet of Moray at a presentation this week.
The presentation took place at Elgin Army Reserve Centre, where the detachment is based. Upon arrival, the Lord-Lieutenant – Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston – inspected the Detachment. He then presented Cpl Curtis with her certificate of appointment.
Battalion Commandant Colonel Iain Cassidy, Deputy Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Reid, Moray Company Commander Major Carrie Higgins and Louise’s family attended the presentation.
Cpl Curtis said: “I am extremely honoured to have been given this appointment and I cannot wait to start assisting the Lord-Lieutenant of Moray with his duties.”
Louise is one of the senior cadet instructors with the detachment and is currently one of the detachment Cadet Instructors teaching the cadets of Elgin from the Cadet Force Syllabus.
