Aaron Bain is the new Employer Engagement Administrative Officer for Highland RFCA. We caught up with him at our Dundee headquarters to find out more.
Hi Aaron. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
“I’m Aaron from the charming town of Arbroath! I delved into the fascinating world of neuroscience during my time at St Andrews University, where I completed my BSc with honours. While my academic focus revolved around the brain, my passion for science extends far beyond. I find myself intrigued by various scientific domains, always eager to explore and learn more. Oh, and during my memorable university years, I was actively involved in the St Andrews Whisky Society, where I indulged in the art and tradition of fine whisky imbibement.”
What first attracted you to a job with Highland RFCA?
“When I first came across the role, I must admit I knew nothing of Highland RFCA. Before applying I looked into what the organisation does and I felt I would experience fulfilment in the role.”
What’s your role within the organisation?
“I am the Administrative Officer who supports Ray Watt, one of the Regional Employer Engagement Directors. I assist in growing the number of companies signing the Armed Forces Covenant, maintaining those relationships to see them progress through varying Defence Employer Recognition Scheme levels.”
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
“I am a man of many hobbies ranging from playing table-top games, enjoying video games, watching anime and I won’t say no to a local craft beer if the offer ever comes up. I also have many creative pursuits from drawing to playing guitar.”
