National shooting success for Forres

09.06.2017

A team of Army Cadets from Moray have won medals in a National Small-bore Shooting Competition.

Cadet Sergeant Liam Brown (16), Cadet Corporal Jadzia Calder (17), Cadet Corporal Rhys Bremner (16) and Cadet Lance Corporal Giacomo Innes (15) from Forres Detachment, 1st Battalion The Highlanders ACF, came third in the Walter Kirke Trophy.

The trophy is a National Small-bore Rifle Association competition open to ACF detachments across the UK and is fired over two rounds. The competition requires – for both rounds – each team member to fire 10 rounds using the cadet force’s No8 .22 rifle at one NSRA ‘Bull Target’ card.

This is the second time in recent years the detachment has done well in this competition, coming second in 2015.
