HRFCA's Ray Watt presents the Armed Forces Covenant certificate to Faye Fletcher of Spirit Energy.

Spirit Energy has been presented with the Armed Forces Covenant at its Aberdeen office.

Highland RFCA’s Regional Employer Engagement Director Ray Watt presented the certificate to the company’s HR & Facilities Director Faye Fletcher (pictured above with Ray) on 13 February.

Spirit Energy has a portfolio and ambitions that span the breadth of the energy transition. Its portfolio is predominantly gas (96%), providing vital, primary energy to fuel homes and businesses in the UK and Europe.

Spirit Energy first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in November last year. By signing the Covenant, it has become one of the 11,500+ organisations to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.

Faye Fletcher, said: “We are delighted to announce that Spirit Energy has become a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant. We firmly believe that working with the Armed Forces will provide new opportunities for ex-military individuals and Spirit Energy.”

Spirit Energy’s commitment to honouring the Covenant includes pledges to:

  • Promote the fact it is an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
  • Support the employment of the Armed Forces community.
  • Ensure Spirit Energy apprenticeship schemes are actively promoted and open to applications from the Armed Forces community.
  • Promote the Armed Forces Covenant, the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and its support for the Armed Forces community to staff, contractors, supplier and the wider public.
  • Support Armed Forces events, such as Armed Forces Day, the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance activities.
  • Support employees who are Veterans; granting additional paid/unpaid ‘special leave’ for those involved in Armed Forces events.

Spirit Energy is now eligible to apply for a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award. The ERS Awards encourage employers to support Defence and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
