IED Training Solutions are the second organisation in the Highland area to take part in a national campaign after receiving the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.
IED are one of six organisation in the Highland RFCA area to have won an Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award in 2019. As one of the smallest organisations, in comparison to previous case study Aberdeenshire Council, IED were also selected as a case study showcasing best practice.
This time around, the Comms team and videographer Dylan headed to Arbroath to speak to IED co-founders Ian Clark and Paul Barrett about winning such a prestigious award from the Ministry of Defence.
Set up in 2015, former Royal Marines Ian and Paul have ensured IED Training’s ethos and core values are an extension of those they learned and practiced during their 22-year careers, often in the most challenging and hostile of environments.
With only 12 employees, all of which come from a uniformed background, IED are a good example of recognising the values and skills of having an Armed Forces background and applying them in civilian life.

After a short interview with Ian and Paul, we were granted permission to visit the Woodlands Garden; a peaceful environment for the men, families and friends of 45 Commando Royal Marines to remember those no longer with them. It was a privilege to visit and a proud moment for IED to represent their brothers in arms.
Following this, Ian and Paul gave an insight into the training and support they provide to both individuals and companies to help transform culture and help build focused, cohesive and resilient teams.
